The international school boy rugby festival event will again feature 10 of the top rugby playing schools in South Africa and 10 of the best teams from around the world.

“I am excited to see the developments for next year’s World Schools Festival. We started this event because we felt it can make a difference, and we saw the impact at this year’s event in Paarl. It also showcased what amazing talent we have in South Africa. I am looking forward to the 2019 Festival growing at Paul Roos and in the years to come,” said Heyneke Meyer, who was at the helm at Carinat Sports Marketing in South Africa at the 2018 event, and will continue to support the development and growth of the festival.

“We were very pleased with the success of inaugural World Schools Festival event earlier this year, and are very excited by the response for the overseas teams who have already expressed interest in participating in 2019. They are all very eager to be part of the Rest of The World team taking on the SA Schools in the Ryder Cup-style competition which was implemented in 2018.”

"The tournament gives talented young players an opportunity to measure themselves at the highest level in their age group," says Jon Phelps, founding partner of event owners Carinat Sports Marketing.

“And 2019 will take that to another level as the overseas teams will come more prepared to the level they need to be to compete against the superb SA Schools,” added Phelps.

The international schools taking part will be announced closer to the event.

"We are delighted and proud to host the second edition of this exciting rugby festival, and look forward to welcoming the world's most promising young rugby players to Paul Roos Gymnasium," says Rector at Paul Roos Gymnasium, Mr André van Staden.

"We believe in the ethos of the World Schools Festival and in the true spirit of rugby. Paul Roos has a long tradition in promoting the values of the sport,” added van Staden.

“We are now working with Paul Roos to finalise the invite list for the South African schools, a process which forms part of the partnership agreement with the host school, and we look forward to making the field announcement soon,” added Phelps.

The World Schools Festival embodies the spirit of rugby and traditional values and is the best global gathering of schoolboy talent.
